REVIEWS

Here's a selection of some reviews about us by customers and the press about The Lion Inn:

"It’s grrrreat to have The Lion back. Wednesday 4th April saw the doors to the Lion re-opening after a lovely face lift. Folks from all over Nottingham turned up to see the fresh new look, which has incorporated some subtle yet welcome changes. The decorative hops have gone, as have the old black floor, the curtains and the many old music gig posters. In their place, an eclectic collection of bohemian mirrors, a few of the original posters have been framed and polished light oak floor. The chairs have been freshened up, and the paintwork is in clean modern colours. They have even brought in some comfortable armchairs too! Keeping the characteristics of the pub has been one of the most important factors throughout the refurbishment. It has a loyal regular following, and has featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide every year during the last ten years. Andrew Crawford, operations director of the Pub People Company said; “We are really pleased with the finished result. There have been some significant changes but we feel that we have kept all the character of the old pub.” This was echoed by drinkers on the night; “It looks great. I haven’t been for a number of years but will be making regular trips out again now” said one. The new Lion website, www.thelionatbasford.co.uk has photographs of the new look, as well as comprehensive music listings, and information about the real ales available on tap at the pub. Amongst these are local cask ales from Castle Rock and Nottingham Brewery. Visitors can also view the complete tasty new menu online. Food is available everyday and the menu is a comprehensive choice of traditional pub fayre. There is something for everyone, from sandwiches and light bites to bangers and mash, and steak and ale pie. There are also a number of vegetarian options. The ever popular Sunday lunch and Jazz music has resumed too. Whether you hop on the tram or take a drive over, the new look Lion Inn is well worth a visit " -review by Ruth G

"CONGRATULATIONS! A web site at last, and a very good one too, brilliant! " -review by Alan Jones

"What can i say great pub, great staff and great music. Most important the booze is always looked after by a top landlady. THE MIGHTY TREE. Cant forget her right hand man Steve aka CHEF. If this pub served kebabs at closing time it would have a place in heaven. Keep up the great work Tony and Vanessa." -review by Tony Waddell

"BAD DOG Great popular covers band - plenty of variety, with two powerful voalists in Robbo and Steph. Shame theyre breaking up. One of the most powerful performances in recent months, despite the power glitch!" -review by Dave S
